Come out there, Hibernation is over! by yoult Come out there, Hibernation is over! by yoult
Here you see the little critter "Mycocephale", which seems to be pretty less popular or at least pretty rarely depicted.
That makes sense of course for the only resource we have are some short snapshots of Paul Sereno's model. That's the case with this drawing also, so take it with a pile of salt.

Despite the title assumes it, I won't propose a possibilty of hibernation for that animal (how could I just seeing a photo of a model?). That catchphrase is just a hint for it's long "sleep" in Sereno's custody. Hopefully it'll wake up soon and doesn't end as a simple junior synonym for "Microcephale" (which is also just an informal name).
Sereno has some great chances to bring more light into Pachycephalosaurid- or even Marginocephalia-Evolution. But it seems he has to be extremely explicitly. Still... can't wait for it.

Also it is fuzzy. That has two major and one minor reasons:
First it is in the light of recent discoveries not out of the question to feather up even big Marginocephalia like Triceratops and Pachyrhinosaurus, so why not the possum-sized Mycocephale?
Second the anatomy of this guy is quite unclear, so what would be better than a thick coat to disguise the uncertain parts?
[antiscientific]Third I like it and hence it must be right! :D [/antiscientific]

Why can't this little guy get a formal description already?

An extremely believable portrait of a pachy, as others have said they look very natural with fuzz ;)

You know, no dinosaur smaller than Psitaccosaurus has been found with a fuzzless body, and NO dinosaur has been found to totally lack filaments... food for thought, huh?

Pachycephalosaurs really look natural with fuzz, somehow. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we get direct evidence of such someday!

True enough. Hopefully it isn't just our imagination. :)

What a cute little guy, for some reason I always thought Pachys were the most boring dinosaurs, but adding a bit of fuzz sure livens them up!

Ha! Can't deny that. Remember those things? [link] They never did something useful, just head-bumping. :D

I hope you're persistent in waiting. Sereno mentioned Microcephale first in 1997... *cough*

Err no? The coughing is just a hint on that date... and we still have nothing more than some mentions and that model.

Ich will, dass "Mycocephale" endlich mal ne wissenschaftliche Beschreibung bekommt.

Oder zumindest mal so ein paar Basisfakten wie Alter und Fundort.
